VINTAGE WHITE HUCKERBACK OR HUCK BACK TOWEL WITH A CROSS STITCH INITIAL
This is a vintage Huckerback or Huck Linen Towel.
Originally this material was a medium to heavy Irish linen made on a dobby loom. It has a honeycomb texture for best absorbency.
This Huckerback towel measures approx. 40” by 22”. I have not photographed it as a full towel, but I am happy to do so it required.
It has a very nice scallopped lace pattern at one end and a drawn work edging to the fold over edge at the other end.
It also has a blue cross stitch initial G on its. This suggests it is quite an old towel, which does not show in its quality.
This item is free from marks and other flaws and is recently laundered and line dried in the Lincolnshire fresh air. It is stored as all my items are in paper and cellphane bags. Prior to despatch the item will be starched, as storing starched items can lead to discoloration.
All my items come from a smoke free and pet free environment.
As with all my items postage is included in the stated price.
A beautiful Huckerback or Huck Linen towel with the initial G in cross stitch. Huck linen originally made from heavy Irish linen on a dobby loom in knubby or nubby honeycombed texture - nubby means a looped yarn. This gives it a hardwearing quality and good absorbency. Originally the towelling material was in long lengths and cut to the required size.
